Some well-known individuals in Nigeria's music business, including Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido, were among the first Nigerians to gain the new "official" label on Twitter.
The official designation surfaced on the profiles of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday, after Twitter introduced two new verification procedures but "killed" one of them hours later.
The company earlier stated its aim to establish the badge as a method of differentiating between the categories of verified accounts after releasing its new $8 membership service, which automatically grants the blue check to all consumers.
The label was present when this website validated the Twitter biographies of these well-known Nigerians on Wednesday. All that is printed there is the word "Official" and a little verification check symbol.
The release of Twitter Blue, which is currently only available on iPhones and in the United States, was overshadowed by the almost instantaneous revocation of the new grey emblem.
Musk tweeted, "I just killed it" hours after the new tag was issued to official accounts, major companies, and notable media sources.
Please keep in mind that Twitter will do a lot of foolish stuff in the next months. "We will keep what works and tweak what doesn't," the world's richest man said.
