Mahamudu Bawumia

Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed doubts about the Vice President's ability to lead the party in the 2024 election.

Given the structure of the ruling party, he believes Dr. Bawumia has very little chance of becoming flagbearer and eventually president. In an interview, I stated unequivocally that Bawumia could not become president of our party owing to our organization's constitution.

In an interview with TV3, he said, "Bawumia is a handsome gentleman." I would have seen Bawumia differently if he had demonstrated independent thought and strength rather than simply praising what the president nNana Addo did or did not do.

The ruling party is still attempting to "Break the Eight" by becoming the first political party to hold office for three consecutive terms.

The party has opened nominations so that candidates interested in running for national office can do so.

The party's current general secretary, John Boadu, is a candidate, as are Charles Bissue, Justin Kodua, and Frederick Opare Addo.

As of yet, none of the candidates vying to be the party's flagbearers have publicly declared their candidacy.

The vice president, Mahamudu Bawumia, and the trade minister, Alan Kyerematen, are just two of the names that have emerged as prospective candidates to aid the ruling party in breaking the 8.
